Now though, at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), Skoda has unveiled the most powerful production-spec version of the Octavia ever, the Octavia RS 245.
2018 Skoda Octavia RS 245 Exterior and Interior
The Skoda Octavia RS 245 is based on the facelifted version of the Octavia, which was unveiled in October last year. To tame all that oomph, Skoda has given the RS 245 special sports chassis and an electronically regulated limited-slip differential. Compared to the normal models in the Octavia range, the RS 245 is lower to the ground by 15mm and gets a wider rear track by 30mm. The car gets 19-inch gloss-black alloy wheels as standard and comes with adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) as an optional extra.
The cabin gets all of the goodies introduced in the Octavia’s facelift too, with the option of the large 9.2-inch Columbus navigation and infotainment system. Sports seats finished in black Alcantara are mated to aluminium pedals, alongside ambient LED lighting.
2018 Skoda Octavia RS 245 Under the Hood
The Octavia RS 245 is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine that belts out 245PS of power and 370Nm of torque. That’s 15PS and 20Nm more than the Skoda Octavia RS, housing the same petrol engine. Unlike the Octavia RS, which will be available either with a diesel engine or a petrol motor, the RS 245 will be petrol-powered only. Customers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch auto box. The setup is enough catapult the car from naught to 100kmph in a mere 6.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.
2018 Skoda Octavia RS 245 Price
The vRS 245 will be available as a hatchback or an estate. UK prices have yet to be revealed, though we should hear more at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
